    • Fish Obstruction:

Dams, culverts and waterfalls have effectively blocked or greatly hindered upstream migration for many returning fish.
The increased struggle to move upstream impacts viability of returning fish and fish species. Fish migration and
obstructions are the subject of considerable litigation, public debate and serious concern.

    • Simple Solution:

Swim-Thru Fishway is a site specific system of pipes and an innovative rotary valve that allows fish to migrate upstream or
downstream by swimming over, around or through dams, waterfalls, culverts or other obstructions. The key concept is
creating a safe, slow passage within the obstructed stream, using the valve to slow the water.

Rotary Valve Operation

(Top view; chamber actually sits flat within the stream and valve pivots around vertical axis).

sequence of operation

Fish are attracted by stream flow and
guided into and through very slowly-pivoting rotary chamber
(one RPM or slower).

sequence of operation

As rotary valve slowly pivots,
fish exit chamber and continue upward through system.
